Scripting: My Favorite Way to Manifest (and How to Begin)
There's something you're longing to call into your life. Maybe it's a loving relationship, a home that feels like yours, a new season in your work, or simply more ease and joy in your days. You can feel the wanting — but manifestation itself can seem vague, or hit-or-miss, like you're never quite sure you're "doing it right."
Of all the manifestation practices I've explored over the years, one has become my absolute favorite, because it's simple, it's deeply felt, and — in my own life — it has worked in ways that still give me chills. It's called scripting.
What scripting is
Scripting is the practice of writing about what you want to call in as though it has already happened. I do it in the form of a thank-you letter to the Universe.
Instead of writing "I hope this happens" or "I want this," you write from the other side of the desire — thanking the Universe for the experience as if it's already unfolded. You describe not just what happened, but how it felt: the gratitude, the delight, the way it surprised you, the joy of watching it all come together. You put it on paper as a done, beautiful, already-real thing.
The wedding and the house
I don't share this lightly, because it genuinely amazed me. I used scripting when I was calling in my wedding day and, later, our home.
I wrote thank-you letters to the Universe describing them as though they were already mine — the feeling of the day, the details, the sense of everything falling into place. And what unfolded came to pass almost exactly as I had written it. Not vaguely, not "close enough" — but with a precision that left me in awe of what this practice can do.
Those experiences turned scripting from something I tried into something I trust.
Why it works
Here's what I've come to understand about why scripting is so powerful: the magic is in the feeling.
When you write in past-tense gratitude, you're not just describing a wish — you're placing yourself in the emotional state of already having it. You feel the relief, the delight, the thankfulness now. And that embodied feeling is what creates alignment.
However you understand that — as energetic alignment, as focused intention, or simply as training your attention and your nervous system toward what you desire — the effect is real. When you've felt something as already true, you begin to move through your days differently: more open, more expectant, more likely to notice and say yes to the opportunities and synchronicities that carry you toward it.
How to write your own thank-you letter to the Universe
You don't need anything fancy — just a journal and a few quiet minutes. Here's how I do it:
Get clear on what you're calling in. One desire at a time works beautifully.
Open with gratitude, in the past tense. Begin with something like, "Thank you, Universe, for…"
Describe how it unfolded — and how it felt. Don't just list the outcome; pour in the emotion. How delighted were you? How did it surprise you? What did the relief or joy feel like in your body?
Write as though it's already complete. Stay in the energy of done, not someday.
Let yourself actually feel it as you write. This is the part that matters most.
Release it. Close the journal, trust, and stay open to the inspired nudges and opportunities that follow.
Scripting your day
While I use scripting for the big things, I've also woven a smaller version into my daily morning ritual. Each morning, I write a brief thank-you letter to the Universe about exactly how I want my day to go — as if it has already happened.
It only takes a few minutes, but it sets a tone of ease and expectancy, and since I began doing it, my days have flowed more smoothly, with more delightful and synchronistic moments showing up. (If you'd like to see how this fits into a full morning practice, I share my whole ritual in my post on my current soul-aligned morning ritual.)
Try this tonight
Before bed or first thing tomorrow, write just a few sentences: "Thank you, Universe, for…" and describe one thing you're calling in — big or small — as though it has already, delightfully, come to pass. Feel it as real. Then let it go and watch what begins to move.
Scripting is a tender, powerful practice, and it becomes even more potent when it's paired with clearing the blocks and beliefs that quietly keep our desires at arm's length. If there's something meaningful you're longing to manifest — and you'd love support aligning your energy, your intuition, and your inner world to call it in — that's exactly the kind of work I love to guide women through.
